I Voted

My parents are both poll-sci degree holders and my mom has a degree in economics. Needless to say, politics are always discussed around my dinner table...on car rides to Tally...and anywhere else there is a lapse in conversation. I was raised around the idea that voting was this really big deal and it was my civic duty to go vote.
So what happened? I turned 18 on February 13th and that was the day I registered to vote.
And then a few days ago I voted for the first time...it was anti-climactic. It was June, I should have voted the first time in November and it was because a Florida congressman decided to have a drug problem {see here}. So I went to my precinct, watched the adorable {and very friendly} elderly women struggle with their iPad license scanning app and then took pen to ballot.
In the end, I voted. And it felt good {even though my candidate didn't win}.
P.S. Once you are 18, please go vote, you won't regret it.
