Birthday

Today is one of my amazing friends birthday. She has been there for me since we were five years old and playing on the sunny side of the playground, even though we are gingers and have the whitest skin known to man. She is an amazing person and I hope to be friends with her late into our 90s. Happy Birthday Ri!

Quotes of the Week

I am taking the SAT this Saturday and I am incredibly nervous! I have been doing tutoring and I want to get into some seriously difficult schools, but I think I can do it. Aside from that sad fact, I haven't been feeling serious fashion inspiration for the past week (I lived in jeans and t-shirts last week, no joke), so below are some quotes from amazing people in the fashion world. Enjoy!

Happy Friday! At this very moment I am listening to Deniece Williams sing "Let's Hear It For The Boy" from Footloose. It was just one of those days. I hope you all have a fantastic weekend, below are some things pinspiring me at the moment:

Orange Julius

In the summer...or spring if you live in Florida, there is nothing better than an orange julius. Dairy Queen owns a brand with this name, but I do not like them, they're too sweet! This recipe has been in my family forever and it is such a southern drink. Plus it is one of the easiest things to make. Hope you enjoy!

2am Finds

I have been making this for two hours +, I could not find any inspiration until I remembered that Monday was Earth Day! Aside from this obvious struggle, my day has been pretty good. I took an AP U.S. History exam and then worked on my fashion board, tomorrow Tiramisu cupcakes and homework!

Pinterest Love

I cannot believe it is already Friday! This weekend should be pretty relaxed, I am taking a "fake" AP US History exam Saturday morning and then Sunday I am planning to bake Tiramisu cupcakes (the post should be up next week). It is also time for more outfit shoots so I will be doing that as well. Have a great Friday!

Love this blue.

Wicked Witch

When you saw the title of this post were you wondering "is she in a witch costume?!" sorry to disappoint. I have always wanted to wear these tights (they came in a package of normal ones) and I never had anything that went, until I found this shirt. It is so big I could wear it as a mini dress, but the less scandalous look is to throw on some tights. They remind me of the Wizard of Oz which is one of my least favorite movies, but that is not the point! Anyway, hope you like it!

Party At Gatsby's T-Shirts

When doing my research for our Great Gatsby themed prom, I came across a sweatshirt that I fell in love with. It said "Party At Gatsby's" in an art deco font. It was the perfect thing for our officers to wear at Harborside for decorations. However, I was not willing to pay $28 for each. So I saw the opportunity to do a DIY. Below are the steps I used.

Print giant words to trace,
onto freezer paper
then trace the words
and cut them to a manageable size
then begin to cut the letters out with an exacto
tape the words to your t-shirt
then paint over your stencil. Let dry for 48 hours.
Finished product.

Weekend Re-Cap: Prom Edition: Coming Together

On Saturday around 2pm, my two amazing neighbors came over to my house to get me ready for prom. I cannot thank them enough for their tremendous help in the hair + makeup department. I think of myself as a pretty good stylist, but when it comes to those two subject areas, I am at a complete loss. Here are the photos of the prep job & some photos we took specifically for the blog.

We straightened the top portion of my hair

Then we curled the bottom

And did two French braids

Next came the makeup--we went for a smokey eye

Weekend Re-Cap: Prom Edition: Decorations

Good morning! Yesterday was so amazing, I cannot even put it into words. This Weekend Re-Cap is all about our amazing decorations. I worked so hard to get the banner & centerpieces donated and I am so happy that it looked beautiful. I did not get pictures with all the lights off, but it was amazing and I got so many compliments. The senior slideshow was a huge hit, and our models looked fantastic.

Salmon Fishing in the Caloosahatchee

Happy Thursday! Only two more days till PROM!!! On another note, it is my fantastic fathers birthday.
This outfit is slightly "risque" so I don't usually wear it out, but something about the salmon sweater adds a preppy twist to it...

My Tribute to Lilly

I have loved Lilly Pulitzer since 9th grade...however I have never owned a single item from one of her gorgeous stores. I do own the skirt (pictured below) and reminds me of her every time I wear it. Today I am wearing it in fond memory of her--as she passed away Sunday--I am hoping she will give me confidence with my NHS Parliamentarian speech today. As Lilly said:
"I didn't set out to be unusual or different, I just wanted to do things my own way."

Green With Envy

It has already been a long week, and it is only hump day! Today was hectic as usual with prom nearing! I finished my Party at Gatsby t-shirts today, the DIY post will be up next week. Tomorrow is my dads birthday (yay! cookie cake!), so I have scheduled a post.
On another note, this outfit has summer written all over it, but it is so hot in Florida that it works.

Quotes of the Week

It is here. The week of Prom. I cannot believe that all of the hard work I have put into this event is finally coming to fruition. I am so excited yet so nervous for the whole event to take place that I can barely contain myself. Below are my favorite quotes from The Great Gatsby's author--F. Scott Fitzgerald.

Book Review: Joie de Vivre

Let me start off this post by saying I am a total Francophile. This book is for Francophiles--if you do not like the French, stop reading now! However if you are as fascinated by them as I am, then keep reading.
This book was an absolute delight to read. The author, an American married to a Frenchman, goes through the various aspects of French life that fascinate us Americans every day. How French women stay so chic & thin, how French people stay happy go lucky. Plus the writing is expert and funny!
I give the book ++++, it is an awesome read, and I feel like if I write more in the review I will spill her witty words. Find the book here.
