I'm a bit Wimbledon obsessed, which is funny because I'm not some huge tennis fan. In fact, I don't think I'd ever watched the competition until I went back in 2016. But there is something about being on the grounds — the Pimm's Cups, the clothes, the attitudes — that just make it special. One of my favorite parts is the strawberries & cream they sell in mass quantities. They first started selling the dish back in 1877 and they've been cranking out a ton every year ever since. Most of the recipes online are for a version of strawberries and cream but the cream at Wimbledon is not as stiff as most of those. Probably because they make it in such big quantities, it's much more liquid...which I like. So, I thought I'd make my own based on my experience at the matches. I hope you enjoy this summer treat even though we can't be in the stands this summer — xoxo darling, Hayden.
Wimbledon Strawberries & Cream Recipe
1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
2 tablespoons powdered sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
fresh strawberries
mixing bowl, whisk, knife, bowl & spoon
Instructions:
1. Cut the heads off the strawberries.
2. Whisk your cream, powdered sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl until it's liquid stiff...if that makes sense.
3. Put a few strawberries in the bowl, pour the cream on top and then top with more strawberries.
Enjoy!
How do we think mine compares to the original?
