Recent Loves

{via}
Over the summer I made this post, and I got a lot of good responses from it so I thought, why not update y'all on what I'm currently obsessed with? Here are the three things I can't get enough of right now.

#1: Riverdale - I did not want to love this. I promise. I thought that it was a show for teenagers and I hope to goodness I am not in that category anymore. However, the best friend watched it and convinced me I had to over the summer. But I ran out of time {watching Sabrina} and didn't get a chance to indulge in this until a week ago. Boy am I glad I did! I was obsessed, I finished the whole thing in one weekend...let's not talk about that. In all seriousness, I couldn't stop watching and I would highly recommend this show. It is totally a teen TV show but the clothes are ahhhmazing, the acting is pretty terrible, that Sprouse brother is kind of hot (???) and the power couple is two best friends instead of a romantic thing.

#2: Will & Grace - This show was something I had heard about over the years but never watched. Then they did a skit about the election and I thought...dang I want to watch that. The best friend watched almost every single re-run. But it wasn't on any of the streaming services I subscribe to. As of a few days ago all of the seasons are on Hulu!!!! So, of course, I immediately started watching it. And wow, it is clever and quick-witted. I watch about two to three episodes a day because I play them in the background as I do other things. It's nice to watch a show that you don't have to pay a ton of attention to, you can get all the great laughs without having to use a ton of brain power. Plus, the new season started yesterday...but I have eight seasons to get through before I get to that...

#3: Old Navy Leggings - Y'all know I am super into my Zella leggings but my mom sent me a new pair of Old Navy leggings she found on sale online and I love them. They aren't as thick as my Zella leggings, so they will definitely wear quicker but they are incredibly soft. Like, it is unreal how soft they are? Plus they are this fun light blue/purple color and the detailing on the leg is really nice. Instead of being the straight line cut at the leg, they dip up and in with a stitched line running along my calf. I can't find the exact pair online but this is my second pair of leggings from Old Navy and I haven't been disappointed. I'm leaning this, this or this pair for my next purchase.

101 in 1001 Update #2

My 101 in 1001 is going well, check out my progress below -xoxo darling, Hayden.

4. Read 55 Books - I've only read one more since the last update and it is really strange. I love reading but I haven't been into it at all as of late? Maybe I just need a really good page turner, so if you have any good recs let me know.

11. Try 20 New Restaurants - I'm done!!! I knew this wouldn't be hard, I honestly should have made it 50. All of the places were amazing, some in Florida some in Texas.

13. Watch Three Documentaries - I finally got around to watching Super Tunnel, something that I had been wanting to watch for a while. IT WAS SO GOOD. I am obsessed with public transportation and this was such a good one. I am looking for suggestions on new ones to watch.

14. Go to all of the home Texas football games as a senior - We've had two and there will be another one next week so I'm going strong. In other news I am going to almost all of the away games as well.

18. See five plays - I saw Relatively Speaking over the summer and I am trying to find some plays in Austin so I can cross this off. I adored Relatively Speaking, if you can see it I would recommend.

24. Create a colorful photo wall memories - This was something I had been wanting to since December and I did for the senior year in my apartment. It turned out so well and was a lot of fun to make happen.

67. Try five new brunches - I went to my first new brunch in Austin at Josephine House and wasn't disappointed. I'm on the look out for new opportunities as well.

83. Go on three hikes - It is difficult to complete this one without a car but I did get to Walnut Creek the other day and I want to go on more!

Study Times Playlist

Being in my last year of college I have studied a lot. Like a lot a lot. So I thought why not share the songs that I listen to on repeat while I study with y'all? It really depends on the kind of studying I'm doing but these are the most consistent songs. Appalachian Spring Suite is about 25 minutes long and I will put that on repeat when cramming for an exam the night before...sure I don't do that...
Anyways, hope y'all like this and please let me know what songs you listen to while you study-xoxo darling, Hayden.

My New Portfolio

Very soon I will be graduating from college...let's not talk about it...but in order to get a job after graduation I created a new portfolio site. My old one was...iffy but the new one I am incredibly proud of. I hope y'all will let me know your thoughts as well. Here is a link to my portfolio, feel free to explore it.
But I thought this was a good opportunity to talk about portfolios in general. I think the more minimal the better but to each their own. Also, I used to use WordPress, something that I have always hated. But now I use SquareSpace and it is so worth it. I bought a year subscription and my university gives a 50% discount {check, your's might too} so it was only $7 a month. With the fee you also get a custom domain name. I was able to buy www.haydenpigott.com, thank goodness. The whole system is fairly user friendly and they have great Q&A pages if you can't figure out how to do something {ie. me}.
I created a static open page:

If you click on Portfolio it takes you through to the whole site or if you click one of the social media icons they will take you to my various sites. I went with very basic fonts because I wanted to choose a really colorful photo - which is me in a nutshell. I adore this pink wall in Austin & the color orange {hook 'em} so that was important for me to showcase.
Once you click portfolio you are taken here:

The squares, which continue and look like below are links to my various pieces of work. As you can see HT is first, I do my most work on it. Some of the photos are my own, the others are images I found online that went with the organization. Some of them link directly through to the site, for example I write for Spoon University and it takes you right to my page that has links to all of the articles I've written.

If you click on something like, Arcadia London Guide, I have created a seperate page {hidden it from view} with links to other separate pages {also hidden from view}. The landing page has links to the articles I've written that weren't published online so they have their own page where they are written on the site.

Other than that there is the About page, I went with a simple description of myself because I also have my resume on the site {you'll see that below as well}.

I embedded my resume onto my site so if you click on it, it takes you to wear you can download a PDF.

Lastly, my contact page. I included my email address because my phone number is on my resume if someone absolutely has to get to me.

Overall, I'm really happy with the way it turned out and I hope this might help y'all with your portfolios. I would love to see them so send me the links-xoxo darling, Hayden.

Week Re-Cap

This has been a super fun week! I spent some great time with friends and got to make a quick trip to Los Angeles, if you haven't yet seen the vlog from that day, check it out here! Below are photos of what I did in LA, along with some of my tips on traveling to LA.
This week is I N S A N E for me, there is so much going on + school work is piling up, it's just a lot, so please send some good vibes my way. This weekend is Invitation Day for my spirit org, something I am thrilled about because we'll get to meet new members!
Hopefully y'all are having a good week, let me know what you're doing-xoxo darling, Hayden.

A Thursday night at Top Notch.

Some of my friends and I attended a Beyonce Sing-Along.

Finally tried Noble Sandwich Co. and it was SO WORTH IT.

Brunch Saturday morning after arriving in LA.

One of my all time favorite things in Downtown LA are their version of the
Spanish Steps that lead to the library - one of the greatest public libraries I've ever been in.

Ran into my friend Ellen and her family at Grand Central Market.

Whenever I stay in downtown, I have to stop at Grand Central
for some of the best food and a wonderful atmosphere.

I'd been wanting to try charcoal ice cream...because I like my trends in foods
and I actually kind of loved it. The ice cream {Unicorn Tears} was so creamy
and the cone had such an interesting flavor.

My first game in the LA Memorial Coliseum

It didn't disappoint. I had the most magical time there.

Check back for tomorrow's Week Re-Cap for info on that and for all of my photos from LA. There I will tell you all of the places I visited. Vizcaya Blue

This was my first visit to Vizcaya and I must say if you ever visit Miami this is a must see. I bought this dress at Marshalls but cannot find it online. However, when I bought it in July there were a ton left but they don't exist on the Internet. I found some similar options below but just thought I would mention it. Let me know your thoughts-xoxo darling, Hayden.

Fall Footwear

So everyone is beginning to blog about Fall, and that's great, but gosh is it so far off for me. Texas is just as hot as normal and won't change at least until November {but we can hope}.
One of my favorite things about any season are the shoes...because I like to think of myself as really practical. Like shoes are what I get excited about because you do change them with the seasons! So instead of a complete fall look book type deal {which I am not saying I won't do...because I probably will} I'm giving you my guide to Fall Footwear today.
Shoes make or break your day so find out the shoes I rely on most-xoxo darling, Hayden.

{Ridding Boots, Sneakers, Bean Boots, Booties, Hunters, Cowboy Boots, Booties}
Ridding Boots - The most basic boot for Fall, grabbing your PSL and walking through the leaves is just a given while wearing these. However, these boots are Frye, they make amazing boots, and I love their take on the classic shoe.
Adidas - I love my pink Adidas, so so so comfy. And this colors is extremely fall! They go with almost everything {hello skinny jeans with a white sweater and complimentary scarf}.
Bean Boots - I can speak from experience, these shoes are the comfiest, warmest shoes you could ever own. I love mine {I have the navy} and if you live somewhere where it snows, these are a must.
Booties {1 & 2} - I love both of these styles, one is from Target the other is more expensive. They go really well with rolled-up jeans or with a cute dress + tights. I have a pair similar to these from last winter from Target that I adore.
Hunters - I have the traditional tall Hunters but I have been eyeing a pair of short ones for so long. If you are bold to go with a bright color, more power to you, but I like the classic black for Fall.
Cowboy Boots - I realize this might not be for everyone but living in Texas, going to UT and being southern, I love my cowboy boots!

Wynwood

The Wynwood Walls were somewhere that I have always wanted to do a shoot for the blog and I had the opportunity a few weeks ago. I went with some more neutral colors so that the walls would live up to their full potential. I am loving this top from Old Navy because it goes great with burnt orange for my football games {get ready for another shoot with it soon}and I got some new navy shorts from Old Navy as well that are really comfy-xoxo darling, Hayden!

Iced Chai on Labor Day.

Little White Dress

This dress is so flipping comfortable! And so great for the beach/a casual brunch. And I know that it's after Labor Day, but why should we listen to stodgy old school rules about dressing? I say wear whatever you want! However, I cannot find this dress anywhere on the internet. I bought it at a Marshalls in Sarasota in July but it doesn't exist! I've found some things similar at the bottom of the post but I apologize for not having a link of where to buy this exact dress. If anyone has it or finds it somewhere, let me know-xoxo darling, Hayden.

Colorful Photo Wall

Back in December I came across this photo on A Beautiful Mess' Instagram. I knew, instantly, that I wanted to re-create it for my senior year of college. So I did. After months of taking really colorful photos, choosing, re-choosing and some tough decisions it is done! I thought, because I'm kind of in love with it, I would show y'all how I did it!

First, I loved the way A Beautiful Mess created a color pattern, from pink to orange to yellow to green to blue. When I was taking photos this year I knew they needed to be extremely colorful so I went for things that really popped. Then when I looked back through the past few years of photos I only chose stuff that popped.

From there I had to narrow down, I think I started with over 100 photos and ended up with 32. After they were chosen I sent them off to Walgreens to be printed in squares. Then I visited my local Michaels craft store for core board and spray mount. Once I picked up the photos I got to work cutting the core board into little squares {tip: they don't have to be perfect} then coated the board in spray mount, waited the proper amount of time and then stuck the photos down.

My bedroom wall is fairly small so I decided to only leave about half an inch between each photo, plus I really want people to look at it as a whole thing, not just individual photos. To stick them up I bought poster sized Command strips and put two along the top two corners. Then I did a lot of math to come up with the measurements/placement on the walls. I would suggest starting with one of your middle rows because it makes everything easier.

What do y'all think? I'm super proud of how it turned out! I think it is a great way to show off your photography skills, bring color into a room and a nice way of remembering good times. If you have any questions about how I pulled it off, feel free to reach out-xoxo darling, Hayden.

P.S. A huge shout out to my parents for helping with this project. I seriously could not have done it with out them!
