College World Series Vlog

It's now been a week since we got home from our epic roadtrip. It ended up being: 9 states, 9 craft breweries, 4 museums, 2 college baseball games, 1 national historic site and lots of restaurants. We had an absolute blast...so of course I made a vlog. The written post talking about all that we did/what I would suggest you do is coming soon...I promise. But in the mean time, grab a cup of coffee and watch this vlog. It's a good one - xoxo darling, Hayden.

Blue Alabama

A long time ago, I had this shirt in pink and I loved it. But I took it to Europe on study abroad and some very strange blue stain got all over it. To this day I have no idea where it came from, but I ended up having to trash the shirt. As a graduation present, my mom surprised me with a new one - in blue. It has a tiny diamond monogram on the left side in white and I love it. The shorts are old - we all know this by now. The hat is from my most recent DIY project, it will cost you less than $10 to make and it is so worth it !! The shoes are Pierre Dumas and the bandana was bought in a pack off of Amazon. I've linked all of the things similar/the exact same below. Speaking of which, I couldn't find the 3/4 length sleeve on Lands End's website, only the short sleeved. But since we're in summer I would highly recommend the shorter sleeved version. The shirt is so so so soft, it would be perfect. Lastly, the photos were taken at Capitol Park in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. What do y'all think? - xoxo darling, Hayden

Red, White & Blue Looks

Can y'all believe the 4th is just a week away? And it's on a Wednesday, which is just strange but whatever you're doing hopefully you'll have a reason to wear something cute & festive. Above are my favorite looks for the holiday. I'm loving that popsicle purse from Target and those slides from J. Crew. I'm not entirely sure what I'll be wearing on the 4th but here are some past looks: Look OneLook Two, Look Three, Look Four, Look Five, Look Six, Look Seven. And I'm not sure what we'll be doing but I do have some Pillsbury red, white & blue cake mix I've been dying to use. What are y'all wearing or are you looking at the stuff above for inspiration? - xoxo darling, Hayden

Flowers in Arkansas

The other day my mom got an email from Talbots with this top and we both knew I needed it. The color is perfect and I loved the orange detailing along the bottom and sleeves. It is about $54 but you can find coupons online (I used a 40% off!). The shorts are, yet again, my super duper old Kohl's shorts. The shoes are also incredibly old, and are from Pierre Dumas, not Jack Rogers but dang, don't they look similar?
We took these photos at Crystal Bridges Art Museum, my favorite art museum possibly ever, which will be featured in a blog post at a later date. There are two from inside the galleries at the bottom of the post, the rest are from the trails outside. What do y'all think? - xoxo darling, Hayden

Lincoln Stripes

Oh y'all. This shirt was an instant buy when I came across it in Target. They didn't have my size, so for the first time ever I ordered from Target. I shipped it to the store - because free shipment - tried it on in the bathroom and loved it. The color is "rust" but when you put on a Texas hat it looks like the Co-Op sold it. The ruffle detailing on the sleeves is such a nice touch to the simple shirt. The shorts are incredibly old {you've seen them in countless blog posts} and the hat can be found here. Also, peep the shoes, so #onbrand for Haute Table. My iced coffee is from Scooter's Coffee - it's like Dutch Bros - and I loved it. We were at the Sunken Gardens in Lincoln, Nebraska. I really enjoyed our time in Lincoln, I had been when I was little but remembered very little. The town has beautiful landscaping and trees. This park is run by the city but it seems like a private park when you're there. What do y'all think? - xoxo darling, Hayden

Week Re-Cap

National World War I Museum Tower

This week has been so amazing. I'm not even exaggerating - it feels like an old school roadtrip we used to take when I was little. My dad and I decided {kind of at the last minute} to drive to Omaha, Nebraska for the College World Series. We drove about 1,600 miles to get here and we had a blast along the way. This is only the first half of photos, there will be a lot more next week when I have more time to write blog posts. But I wanted to go ahead and share what we've done. We drove to Tallahassee and then from there went through Alabama to Jonesboro, Arkansas. Outside of Birmingham we grabbed a bite at Full Moon BBQ, we had eaten there back when we drove through Birmingham before. Then we continued on to Mississippi and let me just say this rest area is the best. It is absolutely beautiful, the restrooms are always clean and if you take a picnic you won't be sorry. We then entered Tennessee and decided to visit Bass Pro Shops at The Pyramid. This is something my dad and I had been wanting to visit for a long time. Because a) we love a good tourist attraction and b) we love a good building repurpose. The Pyramid used to be home to a basketball team. The inside of The Pyramid is nuts, there are alligators, boats in water, a shooting gallery, a hotel, etc. There is also an observation deck at the top {if you are afraid of heights, be warned the deck has glass floors}. You get a great view of downtown Memphis and the Mississippi River. We stopped in Cook-Out for dinner {the best southern burger joint?} and then proceeded onto Arkansas. We drove through lots of farm land and then arrives in Jonesboro - Arkansas State's home. I love their logo and they have great branding along the campus streets.

The next morning we got up and drove through Arkansas and Missouri. We stopped for lunch in Kansas City and then visited the National World War I Museum. It has been recently re-done and it's fabulous. The tower and its two buildings are Art Deco at its finest and the whole thing sits on a hill to look over the city. I would recommend this stop in KC to anyone, seriously, go! After our stop we finished the driving with dinner and craft beer at Blue Blood Brewing Company in Lincoln. If you're visiting Lincoln, go and get the Pastrami Board because, ohmlord, it was wonderful. Honestly we might go back. Have any of y'all been to these places? Let me know, also there are a ton more photos of the stuff described above, below this post - xoxo darling, Hayden.

Paperless Post

Paperless Post is a website I've used in the past. My spirit group at UT used the website to create free invitations for our formals and I really liked how they turned out. They didn't look cheesy - a problem I find with most e-invite services. Then a few weeks ago I was approached to do a little post about Paperless Post (they gave me free coins to their site to play around and talk about it). I immediately jumped on it because I truly do like the website and knew this post would be no different than what I normally talk about on HT. So yes, this is #sponsored but I truly have used the service before and will continue to do so in the future.
To begin, I am a huge believer in thank you notes and sending little cards to my friends to make sure they know I am thinking about them in general. Stationary is a huge selling point for me (I literally have a whole drawer full of it). I should not be allowed in any paper stores because I come out with a new box of greeting cards. In a Snapchat to my closest buddies I told them I would be sending them cute lil e-cards this past week and they were excited. I've also included their opinions on the cards in the post as well so you get both sides.
Paperless Post has done designer collabs with Kate Spade Brand and Rifle Paper Company, two brands that I adore so those were in my top that I wanted to send but goodness there are SO many cute cards on this site. I've included a bunch of screenshots below...mainly because I couldn't stop? Also, a lot of the cards are free so make an account and use them because why not? Also, this Saturday is Father's Day and they have some dang cute cards y'all, I would highly recommend you check them out.
I love that each of the cards is fairly customizable. You can change the orientation of the text, add a background, change the font, etc. You can also add or delete envelopes, change the liners and put cute stamps on the cards. The site is fairly easy to use and the search bar works wonders. They truly have everything from wedding invitations to little cards to say hello. I am extremely impressed with how good the cards look - like if I saw this printed in a store, I would buy it. They gave me 25 free coins and I used all of them because I couldn't stop sending stuff.
Below are my favorites from my experiences and people's feedback. The super cool thing is that you can track cards and get responses back almost instantaneously. I loved knowing when someone opened the card!
Overall, Paperless Post is great. I already used them and I'm definitely planning to use them in the future just to remind my friends that I love them. What do y'all think? - xoxo darling, Hayden

“Wow that’s a super cute card!!" - The Best Friend

 Such cute cards y'all!

Loved sending this one to my mom because she totally is!

Love this reference to Telephone Hour!
(Fun Fact: I performed this exact song in musical theater camp)

 A Kate Spade classic!

Tons of pun cards, which are great for my group of friends.

 So heartfelt!

Sent to a bagel loving friend - "Thanks for thinking of me!! This card is super cute and a nice thing for me to see in my mailbox amidst all the depressing news and spam emails."
Thank you to Paperless Post & Anagram Interactive!

Summer Espadrilles

Is anyone else really feeling espadrilles this summer? Like I know espadrilles are the shoe of the summer but there is something about them this summer that I think is making them extra special. Maybe it's that there are all real cute this season? I'm not sure but I am currently shopping around for the perfect pair to wear to the beach, the pool and around town. Above are my current favorites? Which pair do you like? - xoxo darling, Hayden

Week Re-Cap

Now that I've been home for a while it has been so nice to just relax. There have been no deadlines and there is such little stress in my life. It has been wonderful.

We had a beach day last week on Sanibel Island. Usually we visit Lighthouse Beach but we were feeling like a change up so we tried Gulfside City Park and we weren't disappointed. As you can tell by the name, it is on the Gulf of Mexico side of the island (the water is even clearer than the Bay side). We took Publix Subs (if you know, you know) and spent the whole time in the water. It was a nice lil outing.

Aside from that, we stopped by Palm City Brewing for a few beers to watch my Longhorns win to go to the College World Series...which brings me to my next point. I'm going to the College World Series !! And because this is my first time going since 2008 and now I'm an adult with better tastes I would love your recommendations for anywhere in Fayetteville, Arkansas or Omaha, Nebraska. Those are our two big stops on the trip that we need stuff to do.
Lastly, I've been catching up on magazines and reading a few books (get ready for my next Reading & Watching post...it's coming soon). But if y'all have any book recommendations, send them my way!
What are y'all up to? - xoxo darling, Hayden

Last Minute Father's Day Gift Guide

{India's War // Hat // Facial Fuel // Beard Comb // Yeti // Cookie Cake // Shiner // Beer Glasses // Lagunitas // President is Missing // Parks of Tallahassee // Connect 4 // Triple Crown // Chocolates}
Father's Day is this Sunday! Haven't gotten your dad a present yet? Or maybe you are looking for some more gift ideas. This guide is full of gifts you can go out and buy right now so you'll have them in time for Sunday (and their Steve approved) - xoxo darling, Hayden.
India's WarTriple CrownPresident is Missing - If your dad is an avid reader like mine, he would sincerely appreciate books for Father's Day. These three are things my dad would love. India's War is focused on how India played an important role in World War II. The historian dad will love it! Triple Crown is the newest in the Jeff Hinkley series from Felix Francis (Dick Francis' son). If your dad likes horse racing or British culture he'll enjoy this series. Lastly, The President is Missing is the latest venture of James Patterson but this time he's teaming up with Bill Clinton. If your dad is a fan of President Clinton then this is the perfect present - after reading the reviews in the WSJ it's a fun read but don't take it too seriously.
Hat - Does your dad enjoy a good hat? Maybe he is really into a specific sports team? Banner 47 hats are the best because they travel incredibly well. They aren't structured, you can buy them fitted or adjustable and they fold over on themselves. Also, they come with modern logos or vintage; there are tons of different options.
Yeti - What dad wouldn't love a Yeti? They seem to be the thing at the moment and they come in a ton of different colors so you can find your father's favorite. This is perfect for the dad that spends his time in the yard, goes to breweries, tailgates or just does something where he needs his beverages to remain cold for long amounts of time.
Cookie Cake - Everybody loves a cookie cake and the simplicity is something your dad can appreciate. We just ordered my dad's and he's extremely excited. You can customize the cakes by calling instead of ordering online and they just need two hours time - so order now!
ShinerBeer GlassesLagunitas - Craft beer is at its high point and these are the easiest gifts to buy. Go to your local grocery store (or Target, or ABC) and get some of your dad's favorite kinds of beer. Don't know what he likes? Make your own six-packs at places like Total Wine. Lastly, if he doesn't have the right beer glasses, get some so you (if you are 21+) can enjoy a cold one with your dad too.
Facial Fuel - Every dad gets dried out; whether it is the climate y'all live in or after he hops off a cross-country plane ride. Kiehl's is one of my favorite skincare brands and this Facial Fuel looks like an excellent source of moisturizer for your father.
Parks of Tallahassee Poster - Maybe your dad loves his college town or has an affinity for where he grew up. Check out Etsy's automatic downloads to see what cute posters they have for wherever that might be. I love this one because my dad loves Tallahassee and its parks. You can print it out on nice paper, buy some poster board & mounting spray and make your own little DIY.
Beard Comb - If your dad has a beard he will love this. We bought my dad one of these a while back and he adores it. You'll find him watching a movie on the couch combing his beard - it's adorable.
Connect 4 - My dad and I always had a fierce competition over the game Connect 4. We loved playing each other and when I was little he always won but eventually I figured out how to have a "poker face" and got the best of him. We still have our original game board (what do you call the plastic structure of Connect 4?) but I think it would be such a cute gift for your dad to get him the board game y'all used to play. Then you can have competitions with the whole family.
Chocolates - These Texas Pecan Brags look like the perfect accessory for your dad's office. He can snack on them while he works or offer them to colleagues/associates/guests or you when you stop by to visit. Stop by your local Neiman Marcus to pick them up.

Lilly Pulitzer Planners

1 // 2 // 3 // 4 // 5 // 6
The new Lilly planners are here y'all! Now, I am not in love with most of them, but the choices above are my favorites. However, I will not be getting a new planner until December this year so maybe I'll choose one of these when the time comes. But I thought it was integral to post about them, because we're all Lilly lovers here, right?
I'm really here for the flamingo print because I think that's so cute and being from Florida, it speaks to me. Birds of a feather flock together, am I right? If you are looking for a jumbo the top middle is cute! I really like how the shells are integrated together. The sea turtles are perfect as a gift for your bestie - I'm talking about you Serena - she'll love that you've gone out of your way to get her a super cute planner. The middle bottom is just aesthetically pleasing and I like the blue. It would make your day bright even on the coldest winter day. The bottom right is a January 2019 - December 2019, so not the 17 month planner but just a normal deal and I like that. The 17 month works if you are in school, but now that I'm #adulting I just want 12 months.
What is your favorite? Or are you loyal to another brand of planner? Let me know below - xoxo darling, Hayden.

Pom Pom Floppy Hat DIY

After seeing hats with pom poms all over the stores (here, here, here, here, here, here, here, here) I knew I wanted one. I mean who else is obsessed with pom poms? But the ones I saw in the stores were all over $20, which I thought was insane. As someone who can handle a small DIY project, I thought, why not try a pom pom floppy hat DIY? And guess what? I did! The hat ended up costing $7.50, way cheaper than any of the hats you find online.
So I headed to that dollar section at Target, the floppy hat I bought was $5 with a red, white and blue ribbon around the crown. I can't find the exact hat on the website but you can find similar here, here, here, or here. You can also walk into your local Target and probably find the hat that I used. The pom poms were purchased from Michaels, but you can find similar here and here

Aside from the hat & pom poms you'll need a hot glue gun & glue. The first step for me was to remove the ribbon around the crown of the hat. I think it's cute but that wasn't the aesthetic I was going for. It was very easy to remove and it left a little bit of fuzz left over, but that was okay because I was covering it with pom poms.

Choose whichever poms are your aesthetic, I went for a pale pink, white, light blue, navy and kelly green because...well that screams me, doesn't it?

Next I laid out the way I wanted the poms to look on the crown of the hat. I chose the color I liked the most for the front and center - aka the light pink.

After laying them out it was time to glue them down. I put a generous amount of the hot glue on each pom and then pressed them down around the crown.

And voila! The hat is complete. Y'all, this was so so so easy! Seriously, it took me about 10 minutes and half of that was waiting for the hot glue gun to heat up. AND it only cost $7.50 !! Seriously, if you are into pom pom accessories this summer and you want a cute sun hat - make your own. It's so easy.

I love it and I can't wait to wear it this summer!

Week Re-Cap

Oh it has been a week. So after we drove home from Austin my mom got sick, then my dad got sick, then I got sick! Basically, we've done very little since we got home. We saw Solo and Action Point and watched a lot of college softball. Congrats to FSU, it was inspiring to watch you win. Also, my Longhorns are headed to the Super Regionals for baseball this weekend, so Hook 'Em!
We tried the new brewery in Fort Myers, Coastal Dayz, and we all liked it. They have a good vibe and they have plans to expand their beer, which we are excited about. We also celebrated #NationalDonutDay because...why not? I was featured on the Dunkin' Donuts national instagram story; that was a big one for me! And truly, that is about it. I hope to be feeling 100% this weekend and we'll be doing some more things.
In other notes, we are talking about doing a family roadtrip, but who knows. Hannah and I are also trying to plan something for July but we shall see. What are y'all up to? - xoxo darling, Hayden

Mindy's Bakeshop

Mindy's Bakeshop had been on my mind for years when I mentioned her to my mom about graduation cookies. See, while I adore baking cupcakes, I love to eat cookies so much more. And I like the ease of a cookie instead of a cake for graduation. But then my mom and I never talked about it again and I just assumed she had forgotten our conversation. Then the morning of graduation we drive north of Austin and there is Mindy, with a box of the most amazing cookies I've ever seen. Seriously. Just look at them. And this is not sponsored content. I just needed to share the adorable cookies she created for me - apparently she looked at HT for inspo and man did she kill it? If you live in the Austin area I would highly recommend her for any of your cookie needs, she is a master. Below are individual shots of each of the cookies so you can see the detail - xoxo darling, Hayden.

My monogram and the logo for Texas Class of 2018.

An adorable state of Texas with a succulent over Austin and the blog's logo!

The most detailed succulent and a grad cap...got to stay on theme...

Her unicorns have always amazed me so she did some for me! And a Longhorn to stay on #brand.

My Coffee Table Books

Designing my apartment was one of the most fun things I did while in college - because it was so me. A big part of that was choosing what coffee table books I would display...I know, incredibly basic. But to me, coffee table books say a lot about an individual. They show their owner's true interests and they usually cost more than you would pay for something you don't like. Below is a video outlining my favorites and below that you'll find links to all of my books. Do we share any of the same? Or is there something that I'm missing? - xoxo darling, Hayden
