Weekend Re-Cap

This past weekend was a little crazy. I finally got to see Django Unchained, and I must say it was amazing! I loved every minute of it...except for two parts where I had to cover my eyes. I thought Tarantino did a fantastic job with historical accuracy and just the writing was phenomenal. Has anyone else seen it? On Sunday we ventured to Saint Augustine, and there were so MANY people! We waited an hour for a table at the Columbia, and the meal was to die for (see the pictures below). Then we went over to the fort which was cool as usual. Finally we came home late last night. Tomorrow we are going over to Miami so I have it scheduled to post an outfit. Keep your fingers crossed for Florida State in the Orange Bowl!

At the bottom of the inspirational quotes* is a collage of my year in review. I love every single person in these photos and I am excited to have another year with them. Sweaters in Florida

What do you do in December in Florida? Throw on a sweater and shorts, so you look winter-y but not too much. The weather here is still...warm. I wish that I was back in Paris where I needed boots and jackets, but alas I am stuck here. To make up for this, I put this outfit on with the inspiration of my new headband, which I am kind of in love with! Have a good day!
{What You Need: Sweater (UO- Sparkle & Fade), Belt (Fossil), Jean Shorts (Marshall's), Headband (The Franklin Shops), Heels}

Supermarket Oxford

When in Tally, I always feel the need to dress up a little to do the simplest tasks. I think it might be because all the southern women here always look so perfect. So that is where this ensemble came from. We were headed out to buy supplies for our picnic and I decided to throw on my white Oxford.

Quotes of the Week

Now that I have caught up on all of my weekend work, here are my inspiring quotes of the week! I hope to spend this week relaxing in Tally (where it feels amazing outside) and doing a few DIY projects. Mainly this week is about coming down from all the stress of exams. Have a green and red Monday!

Pinterest Love

This past week was pretty awful! Seven exams in four days is never ideal, but I made it through! Of course as I sat at my desk on Thursday, we were watching some "funny" math videos, I realized I was not feeling well. I tried to ignore it but that night it was even worse. So I have been in bed all weekend...except we were supposed to go to Saint Augustine so I spent one night in a hotel, had to skip Saint Augustine, and ended up in Tally anyway. But I am feeling so much better now, and I am so thankful for Pinterest, without it I am not sure if I would be feeling better today! Hope you all have a wonderful Christmas Eve with you families!

I have always wanted to take a girls trip to Paris.
Outfit inspiration-hoping for sun!

Stocking Stuffers!

Lovely desk set up.
Cherry Blossoms

I have a serious obsession with peppermint,
so this is going to be made pronto!

An old picture from LIFE.
                                                                This clutch is amazing.

New nail idea--cannot wait to try this!

I would love these for Christmas...

Amazing.

I cannot stop laughing!

Longchamp Ad

Back in the spring, I was in Paris, emerging from a subway tunnel in Montmartre. I was told by a man with a walkie-talkie to stop, so I did. It turns out they were doing a photoshoot above me. As I came out of the steps, I caught a glimpse of the model in her winter coat, hat in a bun, doing a lunge. I thought "OH MY GOODNESS A FASHION PHOTO SHOOT!!!!" But then I realized I was in one of the fashion capitals of the world, and thought I would never see the actual spread or ad. I snapped a few pictures (below) but I could not get much closer. Months later, I am sitting getting a pedicure flipping through the latest Vogue and what do I see? The ad! And it is for one of my favorite brands, Longchamp. I found this to be amazing that I actually found it and was elated. The ad itself is below.

The actual ad.

Today's outfit is something comfortable, preppy, edgy, and perfect for exam week. I have loved Piggly Wiggly ever since I read Waltzing at the Piggly Wiggly (which you can find here). When I went to South Carolina I found this red shirt and had to buy it! I hope everyone is having a fantastic week! Happy hump day!

Classic Staple

Restaurants that are timeless classics are refereshing. Downtown, a house was converted into a restaurant way before my time and they called it The Veranda. Whether you sit on the patio or inside the window boxes, it makes you feel so happy. This past week I enjoyed a lunch with my favorite French lady. We had a beautiful meal and enjoyed fantastic conversation.

Christmas Present for a dear friend.

Weekend Re-Cap

Having left the house a maximum of 3 times this weekend and sitting in front of the computer (except when sleeping), I am exhuasted. It has been straight History, ITGS, and Biology the whole weekend (and that is only 3/7 exams!). Needless to say it has been stressful and this week will be even worse. But here are some things that brightened my week/weekend, through the gloom of exam week. I hope your week is better than mine!

The one thing keeping me going and constantly happy!

 Trip Advisor Cookies

Mini Turtles- YUM!

A Bennett's Triple Chocolate Donut.

Holiday House Hostess

I had the kitchen at Holiday House- so cute!

Homemade Christmas Cards (here).

He believes in me.

Peppermint Bark Cupcakes

Peppermint. What more can I say about my, possibly, all time favorite flavoring? This flavor springs to my taste buds with every bite. It makes me instantly happy and crave for the days I have off. I am not the biggest fan of Christmas, but Peppermint makes me go crazy for the season! Between Peppermint Mocha Frappes, candy-canes, and peppermint bark, I cannot get enough

What you need:

-1 Box White Cake Mix (I usually make from scratch, but this will help if you're in a time crunch, here is a recipe I use)
-Peppermint Bark Baking Bits (I got mine at Trader Joe's)
-Peppermint Cream Cheese Frosting (My recipe is very close to this)
-Crushed Candy Cane

Cool Collar

What is it about shirt collars? Maybe it is my preppy nature, but when I see a shirt collar on just about anything, I am inclined to buy it. There is also something about peter pan collars that makes me extremely happy. I think they remind me of one of my favorite moves Grease, Sandra Dee is always wearing them as part of her good-girl persona. This peter pan collared shirt is actually quite cute on its own, but since it is December (even if it is not cold in Florida), I paired it with a plain Navy long sleeve tee.

Seasons 52

When out with my best friend, Caline McCarthy, I like to try new things. This particular journey found us at Seasons 52, one of my favorite resturants. I love the whole concept of a menu that changes with the seasons and is very farm to table. Caline is an avid healthy eater (and a runner!), I am neither of these things. However, I love to let her pick food because I usually like it. We shared appetizers, these included edamame (which I now love!), a grilled chicken flat bread, a tomato salad with goat cheese, and goat cheese ravioli. All of these items were phenomenal! I have found new foods that I love, and cannot wait to re-create at home.

The delicious tomato salad.

 The goat cheese ravioli.

The adorable mini desserts-mine was peanut butter chocolate.

Quotes of the Week

This week is the calm before the storm. Next week is filled with exams. I should be looking forward to holiday break (it means boots and scarves) but I cannot get passed my midterms. These will be the first of IB tests, and that scares me! So this week I am trying to relax and get a head start on studying. I have some good books and cute nail ideas for this week. Have a fantastic Monday!

Quiche Lorraine

Quiche Lorraine is one of my favorite things to make. It tastes absolutely delicious for breakfast, lunch, or dinner; plus it is super easy to make! I received my recipe from one of my really good friends, an older French woman. The last time I saw her she told me I made quiche like a French woman, I was so proud!

{What you need: 1 pie shell, 8oz ham, 8oz cream, 3 eggs, 6oz grated Swiss cheese, 1/4 spoon French mustard, salt, pepper, nutmeg}

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Beat eggs; add cream, mustard and cheese; add salt, pepper and nutmeg.
Dice ham into cubes; place in pie shell.
Pour egg mixture over ham in pie shell.
Bake for 45 minutes; or until knife comes out clean.
Serve with salad.

Sunny Summer

Today I was inspired by the bright green grass growing in my backyard. When I was little I loved playing and reading back there, but since I've entered IB I've had no time! So today as I looked upon the freshly cut blades, I got inspiration for a white ensemble. This dress I have had forever, and I love how flowy it is {plus it has pockets!}. Have a great Tuesday!

{What you need to re-create this: Kimchi Blue dress (UO), Disney hat, Pac Sun flower bracelet, H&M bracelets, GAP flats, and Really Red Essie polish}
