GUEST BLOGGER: Tiffany Lashai Curtis

Tiffany Lashai Curtis is the creator of Commoner Couture and was wonderful enough to help me out this week with a guest post. Please click over to her blog to check out "where runway meets sidewalk."

“One Dress, Four Ways”
As the weather heats up, our effort for styling tends to cool off. Face it, no one really wants to get caught up in a tangle of accessories and hot fabrics once the temps start to creep into the 80s. Tank top and shorts anyone? But before you reach for those trusty cutoffs and a white tee, check out four ways to style the ever faithful, sundress. Pick any sundress that is in a neutral shade or simple silhouette, and apply the inspirational tips below.

Make a dress appropriate for a casual breakfast or coffee meeting, by pairing it with a bright cardigan and neutral accessories.

Add sophistication with pieces like this taupe bowler bag and an “office” piece like this coral blazer. Perfect for a casual summer internship or job.

If you’re lucky enough to attend an outdoor concert or music festival in the upcoming months, you’re going to want to stay cool and comfortable. Simple, but cute flat sandals and key accessories like a floppy hat and cat-eye sunglasses will keep you stylish and the sunburn at bay.

Warmer weather is the perfect excuse to go daring for night. If you’re dressing for a date or just a chic nighttime event, amp up the accessories with a cutout wedge and add a fun hair accessory. If you’re feeling a little nautical, add stripes or a little red, white, and blue.

Packing For Europe

Hi everyone! So I'll be traveling abroad soon and I was wondering if an of my readers had any tips on what to wear? I'll be in Prague, Vienna, & Budapest. I want to maintain my usual preppy style but I'm not exactly sure how o go about it! Comment below with any suggestions-xoxo darling, Hayden.

The Food Diaries: Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille

This past Monday was my amazing mama's birthday. She decided we would eat at the Doc Ford's Captiva for dinner that night. I am not the biggest seafood person, so you will not see seafood a lot in "The Food Diaries." However, Doc Ford's has tons of other options.

The drive across the Sanibel Causeway
was too beautiful to not snap a photo.

Doc Ford's was started on Sanibel and it was named after characters in Randy Wayne White's best selling novels. My dad has read them all and loves them {he compared them to Clive Cussler if you like those}. There are multiple locations, Fort Myers Beach, Sanibel, and the Captiva location is the newest. It is located in Chadwick's Square at the South Seas Resort.

The inside of the restaurant is not much, there are two bars, multiple TVs and lots of covers of RWW's books. It looks like any normal Fort Myers fish "shack."

 The menu

To start we ordered two appitizers {fish fingers and mild buffalo wings} both of which came out of the kitchen promptly and were very yummy. The wings were the perfect heat intensity for a mild wing. However, the fish fingers were a little overly battered. I like my fried fish to be very light and flaky and their's seemed to way the fish down.

Next we ordered our entrees, I had a Cuban Sandwich {a recent obsession of mine} and my mama had the Fish Tacos. Both were good. My Cuban Sandwich was light, the bread was crunchy, and the meat was flavorful. My mama liked her Fish Tacos and said that the meat was cooked nicely.

My mama liked her Fish Tacos and said that the meat was cooked nicely.

The sunset as we crossed back over to Fort Myers

Overall Doc Ford's is good, a perfect spot for a dinner after fishing or the beach but it lacks for that "wow" factor. If you are out on the islands this is good food, but it isn't the best.

15 Years

It is hard to believe I will be graduating this week. I remember, vividly, starting out at Bright Beginnings, reading Christmas stories at Edison Park, being awkward at Cypress Lake, and of course my more recent years at Fort Myers. It has been a long, tough, fun, exciting journey and I would not want redo any moments {and I certainly would not like to have to start all over}. I am thrilled to be off to college, but I will miss my hometown and my teachers so much. These four schools made me who I am.

On My Desk

Hi all. I realize I have not been commenting on my posts like usual and I am so sorry! It has been an interesting week. I started with IB English on Monday, finished that Tuesday. Had study sessions Wednesday, took the AP English test Thursday and today I have my IB Biology exam {which I am terrified for}. Tonight I am off to Jess & Jordana's graduation party {they're having us all wear our college gear & we're eating subs and s'mores!}. Tomorrow I have Santanna's grad party {I am sure it will be a preppy affair}, my senior pictures {finally}, and Heather's dessert graduation party. It's going to be insane next week too with four exams and one free day{Tuesday}. Plus a week from tomorrow is GRADUATION. There will probably be less posts than usual next week as I am testing, but I promise I will try as hard as I can-xoxo darling, Hayden.
