Last of the Snow Outfit

Well, the title of this post seems hopeful that it won't snow again...which is how I'm feeling. I'm so incredibly over it, it's not even funny. But, I will miss the colder temperatures — I thrive in 40 degree weather. However, bring on the spring & summer clothes/sunlight/green leaves. The plants are starting to bloom and it is wonderful, I didn't realize how depressing the brown/dead trees could be?
Anyway, I've been wearing this outfit a bunch to work because I love the sweater (yes, it is the sister to this one). I couldn't find it on ShopStyle, although there are similar options below, but it is still on the A&F website. What do y'all think? - xoxo darling, Hayden
A huge thank you to Halie Bassett for taking the photos at the Fleming Mansion in Platt Park.

The Best Friend Anniversary Trip

So Hannah came to visit me this past weekend to celebrate our four year friendship anniversary. Yeah, can you believe we've been friends for that long (maybe one of the first photos we took together?). We try to always celebrate the weekend of Easter because that is when we think the best friendship started. We had been hanging out throughout that spring semester of freshman year but our first real one-on-one was Easter brunch so that is our official friendiversary. This year was no exception, Hannah flew out Thursday night and we spent the weekend eating way too many desserts and going on hikes. Below are some of the photos and tomorrow there will be an official vlog - xoxo darling, Hayden.

Since the first time H came to Florida,
cotton candy has been our thing.

Ice cream at Frozen Matter Thursday night.

We stan a good brunch — probs because our first few friend dates were brunch—
so I took her to Chautaqua's dining hall.

Lil hike at the Flatirons.

Stop-in at a local Boulder bookstore.

Celebrating spring!

Dushanbe Tea House, where Hannah tried chai for the first time & liked it!!

Took a drive through El Dorado Canyon.

H loves a good food hall so we did Friday night dinner at Milk Market.

And it wouldn't be us if we didn't consume ice cream every day we are together.

Drinks before the Armchair Expert podcast.

Dax Shepard was as hilarious as ever.

54Thirty, where neither of us fit in but she took this cute photo of me.

One of the best breakfast burritos I've ever consumed at B&B in Castle Rock.

Paint Mines was an Instagram shoot waiting to happen.

Sweet Cooie's because we needed more ice cream.

Yes, that is a pop tart ice cream sandwich...

Week Re-Cap

Ugh what a great week!! Seriously, I ate so much good food, hiked a bit, met a potential future president and had the best friend visit (don't worry, a vlog & a photo post are coming in the next two days). This week I have a meeting, the roomie and I are trying a winery and I have the AAUW State Convention. I'm excited - xoxo darling, Hayden.

Lindsey and I tried Pizzeria Lui in Lakewood & we loved it.

Back at it again at Magill's.

Met the wonderful Elizabeth Warren!

Park Hill Bookstore is adorable & I got three books for $6.

Stopped for a sandwich at Spinelli's.

I needed to grab something from the owner at Amethyst - Lakeside and look
at how adorable those stools are! Plus, the chai is good.

A sundae at Frozen Matter.

Brunch at Chautaqua on Friday.

Peep those snow-capped mountains.

One of my favorite childhood treats — a chocolate covered
rice krispie treat from Kilwin's.

Look at all those cookbooks at Peppercorn.

Lunch at the Boulder Tea House.

Friday afternoon at El Dorado Canyon.

Delish gelato at Cornicello at Milk Market.

Poka Lola Social Club has some of the best drinks.

Cloud lights at 54Thirty.

Loving this downtown building's light scheme.

Paint Mines in eastern Colorado is AHHHMAZING.

An afternoon stop for ice cream at Sweet Cooie's.

Dinner at Sweet Ginger.

Brunch Dresses

I don't know about y'all but spring makes me feel like brunching at a pretty constant rate. Especially now that I actually get to enjoy spring! I just want to throw on a cute dress, find a good brunch spot and sit outside on a patio. You know, have some pancakes, a latte and just soak in the weather. Below are some of my favorite brunch dresses for the spring, what is your favorite? - xoxo darling, Hayden

Easter Rice Krispies

Easter is this weekend! And I will admit to y'all that I don't really celebrate it, unless you count eating far too many Reese's Eggs celebrating. However, I was thinking about one of my favorite treats, the rice krispy (remember when Hannah made me a cake made out of 'em?). The way I did it was really easy to follow along. I'm really happy with how they turned out. I was surprised that the colors were so vibrant and how sweet they were. You definitely don't need to add any sugar or flavorings because they have their own unique taste.
You need as many Peeps as you want, a hunk of butter for each color, microwavable bowls, a box of toasted rice cereal, and a lot of cooking spray...I mean a lot. I coated my bowls, pan, spatulas and hands in cooking spray to deal with the sticky nature of Peeps.

I mircowaved the peeps for almost two minutes to let them melt.

Then mixed it up and added the cereal.

You do that with each color and then, I decided I wanted a weird collection of the
colors so I put them randomly on my pan.

Let them cool completely and then you can cut them into squares, or use cookie cutters for
shapes. I picked up a bunny, tulip and egg at the local grocery store.

Week Re-Cap

Thinking every ice cream shop should have a disco ball...
It's hump day! This week has been pretty wonderful, I ate a lot of amazing food, hung out with a bunch of friends and (the photos are not included below) got to meet Elizabeth Warren. Tomorrow Hannah flies in and I cannot wait! Check out all that has happened in the photos below - xoxo darling, Hayden.

Breakfast at Corner — and yes, I know it's a chain, but y'all, I love it.

Honey B's Macarons in Highlands Ranch is A+.

A new, to me and relatively new to the area, coffee shop called Riize in Littleton.

Dinner with Lauren at Sera's Ramen Collective in the Highlands.

Spicy Chicken Bowl is 10/10.

Hammonds peppermint bark in a pretzel cone from Sweet Cow is
something I will dream about for years to come.

Sunday morning hike at South Valley.

Picked up some bagels before finally finishing my Agatha Christie book.

These little guys were on my Monday walk.

Stopped at Nuggs for a Tuesday pick-me-up.

Taco Tuesday, right?

I'm lucky my downtown meetings are a) located in a beautiful neighborhood &
b) have a great coffee shop right across the street.

Finally watched Pretty Woman, and yes, I liked it!

Strawberry Shortcakes

If you saw my latest vlog, you know I baked some strawberry shortcakes — and they were successful — so I thought I would share how I did it with y'all. You can find the recipe I used here. I have never made these little guys before but let me tell you, they were super easy! I loved making them in biscuit form. I've included photos below of each of the stages but this only took me about an hour to do everything. You basically just mix up the dry ingredients, add the wet and then add really cold butter. That is key!! Make sure to do really cold butter, keep that stick in the fridge until you absolutely need it. Also, you don't need the special sugar they have in the recipe, I just used regular sugar and it was fine. The whipped cream was a nice light addition, it isn't too sweet, which I think is important. Overall, I would highly suggest making these! They are a great spring treat - xoxo darling, Hayden.

Quotes of the Week

Oooo this weekend went by so quickly. It was really nice though, I got to meet with my AAUW chapter, I am now elected the Communications Secretary and I could not be more excited! I also spent some good time with my friends, just connecting and talking and laughing. It was so rejuvenating. This week is pretty hectic — tire alignment, Elizabeth Warren is coming to town, I need to do some baking and of course, Hannah comes to town. Eek! What are y'all up to? - xoxo darling, Hayden

A Too Early Swim Suit Post

I guess this post might not be early, if you've already had spring break — and if that's you, ugh I miss spring break — so maybe I'm not crazy in creating this in April in Denver.
But let me say, y'all it is getting warm here and I'm actually excited about it. As I type this I am wearing a sundress and sneakers (that's right, no leggings!), it is the best feeling. And I'm feeling swim suits right now, so here are my favorites in the shops right now. I'm looking at these cuties for my trip to Croatia so we shall see what I go with. What is your favorite? - xoxo darling, Hayden

3 Week Re-Cap

Well, hello there. It has been some time since I did one of these, right? Or had a consistent posting schedule? And there really is no excuse, I just didn't feel like writing blog posts. Which is kind of crazy for me...because I've been doing this and it's pretty much ingrained. But I think we all need to take breaks from things we love and reassess. That is not to say I want to change Haute Table, because I don't, but I also don't want to put stress on myself when I'd rather curl up in bed with a book or drink wine and watch Love Island with my roomie. Plus, moving to yet another city not knowing anyone has taught me how important my friendships are and sometimes I would rather not blog so I can go to dinner + drinks with friends. But I still love HT, and that will never change. And I think I'm back for the foreseeable future, but if I don't post as much, don't worry about it, just know I'm out living my life in this really cool city I get to call home.
Now that I've gotten off my soapbox, let's talk about what I've been up to, instead of writing it all out, I'm just going to use the power of the caption, enjoy - xoxo darling, Hayden.

My parents sent me the sweetest Easter box.

A Dutch Bros pick-me-up after a particularly hard work day.

Strawberry shortcakes, yes, I made them! Also, if you haven't seen this vlog, you must because there is a particularly funny part. Also, the recipe is coming next week.

Love the tiles at Milk Market in downtown Denver.

Huckleberry Coffee

A crepe from Fem at Milk Market.

Denver's latest food hall, Broadway Market is adorable.

Yaaas, Denver has quality empanadas.

One of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had from Miette et Chocolat.

A lil stroll around Broadway.

I had the opportunity to go on a street art tour in RiNo, and it was awesome!

Love the pink detailing on this building.

Grabbed some late-night ice cream with Lindsey.

Cafe Ole in Lakewood makes really good coffee!

A cute mural in the Highlands.

Queso queso queso @ el Camino Community Tavern

Queso mac & cheese because, why not?

Great Harvest has a bread bar so you can sample their breads before
choosing...I need this everywhere.

Tacos at The Alley in downtown Littleton on a Saturday night out with Halie
(we ended up singing loudly to "Redneck Woman" with the band).

Raspberry chocolate chip Ebelskivers (basically little donuts) at Three Griddles.

Easter Bird Nests Recipe

After watching some Zoella vlogs I decided I needed to make bird nests...something I've never made before. I'm also not a celebrator of Easter, unless it is consuming far too much candy — Reese's eggs am I right? But let me tell you, these lil guys are so easy to make, you can find the recipe here, I'll also walk y'all through my process below.

I got all of my ingredients at Target, you need:
Chow Mein noodles, peanut butter, milk chocolate, Cadbury mini eggs

I used a mix of milk and semi-sweet chips because the recipe called for a
little over one bag, however, I wish I had just done the milk chocolate, I think the
semi-sweet made it a little bitter.

It'll take a while in the microwave, it took me 2 minutes & 20 seconds.

Put it in your best non-stick bowl and mix everything together.

I think mine had a little too much chocolate.

Also, they are not easy to mold...in my opinion. I had to sit at my counter and
really work to get them to look like nests and retain a
little spot in the middle for the eggs.

Then you let them sit for quite a while. I waited about four hours,
then put them in the fridge for 30 minutes before taking photos.
Then I left them on my countertop throughout the weekend for a snack.
Also, I took some to work and people enjoyed them so I would recommend them!
Especially if you have kids, I think they are a great school centers treat.

Quotes of the Week

Happy Monday! It has been a fairly restorative weekend. Work has been really crazy and intimidating and just a lot. So it was incredibly nice to do things for myself this weekend. Liz hosted an Aquaman watch party on Friday night with two of her work friends, who are absolutely hilarious. She got us all shell bras and we wore mermaid leggings, got wine drunk and heckled the movie (because, I know I'm not a superhero movie person but it was horrible). Then Saturday I spent a majority of the morning in my bed, my room gets so toasty in the mornings while the sun streams through the window and it's so nice to read a book and just enjoy. Then I took myself out for a late brunch, macarons and coffee. Saturday night Lauren and I met up for a ramen filled dinner (and got ice cream after) and then Sunday Jess I watched a foreign film I had been wanting to see for months at Alamo (go see Slut in a Good Way!!!!!). Overall, it was so nice to just recharge for another crazy week. But it should be a good one, I have a few meetings and I'm excited about each of them. What are y'all up to? - xoxo darling, Hayden
