Happy Halloween + Week Re-Cap

Halloween Funfetti Cupcakes
Happy Halloween lovelies! I hope your day is spooky or spoopy, whatever you would prefer.
This week has been pretty good! Most of the photos in this post are food, so I hope you aren't hungry...if so, I'm sorry! But mainly I just ate various meals with people...so yeah. Yesterday's trip to the dentist went super well. My cavity has been fixed and I feel like a new person...with slightly sore jaws.
I'm headed to Austin this weekend to meet my dad for the WVU game...hopefully we'll win...and to eat all of our favorite foods/drink beer. Hope your week is going well - xoxo darling, Hayden.

Green Blue Pumpkin

Oooo I love this outfit and I love these photos. A huge shout out to my little, Julia for being an absolute trooper and taking them for me. The sweater is one of the softest things I've ever owned from H&M, the jeans are old, the boots are old and the vest is Crown & Ivy. We took them at Happy Apple Farm in Penrose, Colorado where we ate apple cider donuts, bought some pumpkins and just had an all around blast. Fall is my absolute favorite season so I loved taking in every moment. What do y'all think? - xoxo darling, Hayden
P.S. I'm headed to the dentist this afternoon to deal with a cavity and I'm kind of terrified. Wish me luck!

Quotes of the Week

Happy Monday lovelies. This weekend was amazing because I just took it easy. Lots of laying in bed, resting, watching TV and hanging with friends. Unfortunately, Texas lost which dampened my happy feelings but oh, well, you win some you lose some. I started Sabrina on Netflix and I like it a lot, although I will miss the old Sabrina and the old Salem. Also, started The Romanoffs and I love it! I'm finishing up my "She Caused a Riot" book this week and then I'm off to Austin for the WVU game with my dad. This week I've got a ton of other things - a teleconference about facebook, a dentist appointment (I have a cavity), a date and I'm hanging out with my friends. What are y'all up to? - xoxo darling, Hayden

What I've Been Watching

Let me preface this by saying, I've watched a lot more than these things in the last however many months. However, it got out of hand and I didn't have time to write a 10 page document on all of it. So here are some highlights. Also, I will be doing better about my list/posting so they aren't as long and intimidating in the future. But without further ado, here is a list of what I've watched recently - xoxo darling, Hayden.

Hap & Leonard: The Two Bear Mambo

My parents first introduced me to Hap & Leonard about a year ago. When this season came out I was looking forward to it because the show is set in the 1980s in East Texas with a white conscientious objector and a African American gay man who fought. So already, there are going to be some challenges. But it gets better! The show is a mystery that features tons of crazy Texans and it really challenges you to think about racism. At one point Hap (the white guy) is talking to some racist men and says, “You just want to hate someone.” Implying that it wouldn’t matter who it was they just need to hate someone to feel better about themselves. Just watch it! It’s super entertaining, funny and challenging. We love it.

Chef’s Table

One of my good friends who might be more obsessed with food than I am introduced me to Chef’s Table. And I’m not the biggest fan of certain episodes but I was glued to the dessert season. Christina Tosi is one of my favorite people on this planet and learning about her through CT was a glorious experience. She is an inspiration to women (really everybody) everywhere that you don’t have to make baking/cooking complicated. As long as you make something well and are innovative you can succeed. She doesn’t need a green tea foam reduction to have success – she has cereal milk ice cream.

Secrets of Underground London

As part of my 101 in 1001 I have been attempting to watch more documentaries. And being obsessed with London, I thought, why not? And you know what? This is pretty fascinating. It’s less than an hour and you will learn so much about the random stuff that goes on under the city of London. For example, where they stashed art during WWII and a few more creepy things. Would recommend.

Gaga: Five Foot Two

Another documentary, but one I had been planning to watch for quite some time. Lady Gaga has always been one of my favorite artists, my high school best friend’s older sister introduced me to her when I was a freshman and I have been a lover ever since. Her songs, music videos and fashion choices have always inspired me to be me. This documentary shows the struggles she is having that the general public doesn’t even know. And you get to see her be “real” throughout the whole thing, which I loved.

Superstore

I’ve been watching Superstore for some time now and I just love it. The show is so well written and just downright hilarious most episodes. I can’t even name a favorite character because it’s just such a cast. In case you don’t know, it centers on the employees of a discount store – think Walmart but not that size. They even wear the little vests. America Ferrera is the major star but everyone in it is wonderful.

Timeless

Oh my, this is one of those guilty pleasure shows for my dad and I. Like it is not good…but we can’t stop watching? I started it a few seasons in because that’s where he was and it isn’t a hard concept to follow. I mainly tune in for the period costumes but it is a fun one if you are bored and need to watch something fairly unbelievable.

Blackkklansmen

When I first saw the trailer for this movie I was so bought in. I loved the idea, then come to find out, it’s a true story. All of that means I had to go see it on opening weekend. And it did not disappoint. The movie is poignant, funny, timely, serious, tragic, challenging and more. I cried, laughed and felt distraught by some of the finer points. I feel everyone should see this film so they can better understand the world we live in and for the laughs. In case you’ve been living under a rock, it centers around an African American cop in Colorado Springs who infiltrates the KKK. Spike Lee directs and there are clips at the end of the Charlottesville tragedy – the movie came out on the one-year anniversary. Seriously, go see it.

Balanced Rock

Okay, this look is one of my all time favorite's for fall. Plus, we shot it at Garden of the Gods, one of my all time favorite places in Colorado. The sweater is a man's...oooo...ahh...but y'all it is one of the softest things I've ever purchased. I got it on sale (it was $88) for $18 !! Go to the Brooks Brothers outlets y'all, you will score! The vest is old, I couldn't find a woman's version. It's fleece and super comfy. But be warned, it will come off on all of you clothes, I cannot make it stop! The bean boots, jeans and camp socks are all old but gosh are they comfy. My hat is from a St. Patrick's Day collection from the UT Co-Op but here is a similar version. What do y'all think of the look? I plan to wear it all the time - xoxo darling, Hayden.
