Summer Drink Week: Mint Julep

Is this not the most summer drink? It starts off the season with the Kentucky Derby and it's so refreshing - xoxo darling, Hayden.

 Mint Julep:

You'll Need:

- 3 cups ice
- 3 oz bourbon
- 1 oz simple syrup
- 10 sprigs of mint, 7 sprigs leaves for julep, 2 sprigs for decoration
(makes ~ one glass)

Instructions:

1. Put your glass in the freezer so it gets nice and frosty.
2. Pre-make your simple syrup. You'll put 1 tablespoon of sugar and 1 tablespoon of water in a saucepan, boil it then let it cool.
3. Meanwhile, put three cups of ice into a blender to crush it.
4. Put simple syrup and mint leaves in bottom of glass, the muddle the mint. To muddle, simply press down on leaves with a wooden spoon.
5. Add bourbon.
6. Add your ice, stick a straw in and garnish with mint sprigs.
Troubleshooting:
Depending on how sweet you like a drink, you might want to add more simple syrup. The first one I made, I added too much simple syrup and it was too sweet to drink, so just be aware. Also, the more mint you add, the better!
