As you saw last week, Babs and I visited SoCo a few weeks back. After walking up and down the street trying to decide where to eat {and trust me, it is always a difficult decision}, we chose Guero's Taco Bar. We had to wait about 20 minutes {it was around 1:45pm} after that we were quickly seated.
The restaurant is quite large with multiple different rooms featuring different atmospheres. There is even a fish pond in the front of the restaurant, you can buy a t-shirt that says you fed the fish.
There are multiple salsa bars in the restaurant and guests are invited to get up and get their own at any time. Just make sure to eat it all! Because it is delicious. From the photo above, they give you a red salsa that is much sweeter than what I am used to and a green salsa, that is spicy and a wonderful delight to your palate.
Babs and I both ordered chicken tacos, I had mine on flour tortillas, she had hers on corn. Also, neither of us are big fans of beans so we doubled our rice...and boy are we glad we did. The rice was phenomenal! It was light and fluffy but had chunks of tomatoes in it to give it some delicious flavor.
The tacos themselves were quite messy, so be prepared for that. The meat was mixed with peppers, onions, and spices. The chicken was shredded and very juicy...remember they are messy!
Overall, Guero's Taco Bar was a fun experience, it is a little pricy for what it is; but it has a fun atmosphere and the tacos are pretty good. Plus that green salsa made me want to go back ASAP.
