What I Packed: London Study Abroad

Let me tell you, packing for a two month long journey is a difficult task. Not only do you have to bring clothing but sheets, towels, toiletries, and so much more. But somehow I managed to get my things across the pond under the weight limit. I am not saying I haven't gone out and purchased some things since then but overall I think I did a pretty good job. Check out what I brought {these are not the exact pieces, but they are very similar} below-xoxo darling, Hayden.

Week Re-Cap

This week started off amazing, lots of fun, the parents flew in, but it took a nose dive on Saturday. Both my team (hook 'em) and my parents teams lost. I was rejected from an organization I have been trying to get into for a while, and another organization I am part of didn't have the recruitment level I would have liked.
But we are attempting to move past all of that and focus on the good. My school week has been relatively light & I am excited to relax a little bit this weekend. What are y'all up to? -xoxo darling, Hayden

Last week the two Hannahs and I tried DivaDance.

We loved it so much we are going next week!

But after we got Cow Tipping Creamery...because we earned it.

I took my parents to Nau's Enfield Drug when they
visited & this was painted on the wall.

A few cute Texas county courthouses from my parents & I's day trip to Washington-on-the-Brazos.

There were baby pigs at the working farm!!

Washington-on-the-Brazos was awesome!

Truth BBQ is amazing & everyone should go.

Lovin' me some Texas. {via}

101 in 1001 Update

I haven't updated y'all since April on my progress on my 101 in 1001. We are really getting down to it, the time is up in March (how did this happen?!). I am honestly not sure if I will be able to accomplish even 90 of the items, but I am so proud of everything I have gotten to do thus far! I have learned so much about myself & challegned myself, it has been a wonderful experience. And expect another 101 in 1001 to come out in late March of 2017 because we're going to do it again (and maybe be a little more realistic). Are y'all working on yours? -xoxo darling, Hayden.

No. 15: Write five letters a month for 12 months. Somehow I accomplished this & I am proud.

No. 25: Take a trip with my girlfriends. When Hannah and I first thought about her visiting me in London we weren't entirely sure it would work. But low and behold, she did visit and we took the most idyllic trip to Paris that has ever happened between best friends. I love
daytripping and being with Hannah but visiting another country with her was honeslty one of the greatest experiences. I wish we were going there again super soon but alas, Paris is expensive. But H is visiting me sooner rather than later (see below)!
No. 29: Go to at least five live music shows. This also involves Hannah because she is the one who made me accomplish this goal. And let's be honest, I loved every minute of it. I had so much fun seeing Jason Isbell, Ra Ra Riot and so many more. I love living in Austin and I am working toward seeing even more shows before I graduate.
No. 37: Visit a Flea Market. This was one of the most random experiences. I read that the Austin Flea Market was really great, but we went and it was only okay. However, we went, we saw, we conquered so we can check it off the list!

No. 46: Have a picnic {in the classic sense with a blanket}. I had no idea that I would accomplish this one so many times while I was in London. I loved picnicing in the parks SO MUCH. And everyone does it, after work. They grab something to go from Pret (or in my case Wasabi), get a drink and go lay a blanket down. It was amazing.

No. 62: Visit Laudree. I really wanted to go back to my favorite macaron place and when Hannah & I visited Paris we went to their original shop to grab some boxes. They were delicious as usual and it felt so nice to buy them in Paris.
No. 65: Make a rainbow layer cake. This wasn't as hard as I thought it would be (in the difficulty baking sense). And the result was A++++.
No. 68: Get an awesome internship. I loved my internship this summer at Allegra Group! I had such a fun time and worked with so many amazing people. It was a wonderful experience!
No. 70: Study abroad. Well, we all know this was a success from my continual posts about it over the summer. I had such a wonderful experience studying abroad & I would suggest it for anyone else. You should get out there and experience a different country while you can, trust me.

Upcoming Goals {57 to go!}:
No. 3: Unplug for 24 hours once a month. I want to try this really bad. I think I am going to do it once and then check it off, because I am slightly concerned about being able to handle it. We shall see.
No. 9: Guest Blog for 10 people (have 5 done). I am halfway done! All of the guest posting I have done has been such fun & all of the bloggers I have worked with have been great! I am trying to finish this goal by December so we will see!
No. 32: Clean out wardrobe at least twice. The Ladybirds is hosting their annual clothing drive in November so I have flipped all of my hangers around and I am going to get rid of a ton of things then.
No. 64: Vote in my first presidential election. I AM SO EXCITED. #I'mWithHer.
No. 83: Go on vacation {not a trip, like seriously sit around, read and relax}. As I talked about above, Hannah & I really enjoy traveling together. So after she graduates from college (tears) she is visiting my in FLA for a while. We are going to go between the beach, the pool, and some ice cream shops & just relax. We're going to read a ton of magazines, books, and just chill out for a few days. I can't wait!

Week Re-Cap

Happy Wednesday! It has been another pretty solid week! I started off taking the freshman I mentor to Amy's Ice Cream (which they loved) and ended it with an ice cream party. Inbetween then, Texas won (AGAIN!), I got to meet my committee members in Comm Council (and got some more littles to add to the #FabFam), saw Jason Isbell in concert (if you've never heard of him, don't worry I hadn't either, but now that you have check him out), and tried a new food truck! This weekend my parents are coming to town & I am pumped! I also am trying out a dance class tomorrow (I'll let you know how it goes). What are y'all up to? -xoxo darling, Hayden

Amy's Ice Cream had peppermint ice cream on Wednesday
& I might have had a small freak-out.

Hannah & I stumbled upon 2 Tarts Bakery in New Braunfels,
the banana pudding was A+.

Hannah & I waiting to get into Jason Isbell {aka crossing
off one item on my 101 in 1001}.

 Lucero

Front row seats for Jason Isbell!

 We beat UTEP! We're 2-0!!!

My committee gifts for Comm Council.

Tried a new food truck, and crossed it off my list.

It was delicious.

I am so thrilled with my Media Committee! They are amazing!!!

Fall Staples

My favorite season of the year is just around the corner!!! I was doing laundry on Saturday morning and it felt so nice outside (my laundry room is downstairs from my unit). I could almost touch Fall!
So in that vein, I decided to make a little post about what I think you should have as a Fall Staple. I got the idea from Sarah Vickers over at Classy Girls Wear Pearls. I have linked examples of my Fall Staples at the end of the post so go forth and shop! What are your Fall Staples? -xoxo darling, Hayden

When I bought my Bean Boots I had no idea how much I would come to love them. I knew they were a classic tenant of the "preppy" lifestyle but I didn't understand the comfort level they would provide. I would wear them every day if I could because they are that comfy! Plus they go with basically everything in my wardrobe, they can handle a light rain, and they keep my feet very warm. They are a little expensive but, honestly, they are worth both the price & the wait. So buy yours now!

I am admiting to you now, this is not a Burberry scarf. It came from the men's department at Dillard's and is a Roundtree & Yorke section. However, it is such a classic print and it goes with e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g (because it's tan...). Then there is the soft factor as well... Anyways, having a classic scarf is great for the fall because you can throw it onto any outfit and BAM, you have accessoriesed to perfection.

I feel like this might be the most essential piece in any fall wardrobe. Jeans are the staple of any cold weather closet. So I buy about two pairs of jeans a year and wear them until they give out. My absolute favorite brand is Levi's because they will last & never lose their color. My favorite color is navy so I always go for the super dark wash but I have had a pair of light GAP jeans and a pair of light Madewell jeans that have been phenomenal.

These are kind of like the Bean Boots. When I was in middle school I was an avid reader of Nylon magazine. They did a piece on what to wear to various music festivals and the Glastonbury look really got me. The girl in the photo was wearing Hunter Wellies. I knew from then on that I wanted them. Fast forward a few years (sophomore year in high school) I got good grades so my parents agreed to buy me Hunters. My dad and I were in Lafayette, Louisiana and we saw them in a store. I walked away with the classic black shiny kind and have never looked back. They are such a staple in my wardrobe during the fall because it rains a lot in Texas. Not to mention they can really complete a fall look. They are slightly expensive but totally worth it! Plus if you buy around 5 cheap pairs a season, you could have just bought 1 pair of Hunters and they last for forever!

Much like a good pair of jeans, a crisp Oxford shirt (in any color) is an essential wardrobe item for fall. They keep you warm, they go with anything (from jeans to a skirt to cords). I buy mine from LandsEnd but you can get one anywhere for any price.

Ahh, the puffer vest. I was really resistant to this trend for a long while. I really thought people wearing them looked like Han Solo in the old Star Wars movies but I finally caved into the trend a few years back when they were having a sale at Old Navy. I hate to admit it, but now I wear my vests a lot...I have one in navy & one in burnt orange (see above). They don't cover your arms so they aren't great for super cold weather but they really work if you think it might be slightly chilly out. Plus they can bring an outfit together/cover up stuff you might not want to show.

I am super weird about what clothes I wear in the fall vs. the spring. For some reason I cannot wear a bright skirt in the fall, no matter how hard I try, my brain just can't wrap around it. So I have about 2 skirts I will let myself wear and one of them is a tweed herringbone skirt I got FOREVER ago at GAP. But it has served me well. I always pair it with black tights and a pair of low black boots in the fall. It makes a really polished look and is great if you need to look nice but want to be comfortable.

Guest Post on The Berries

Go check out my guest post on The Berries today! I am talking everything you need to know if you are considering interning abroad-xoxo, darling, Hayden.

Week Re-Cap

This week. Has been so phenomenal. First of all, Ladybirds has been having some great events (we went bowling on Friday). Then Saturday I didn't leave my apartment because the football was so good. Sunday, oh my goodness, Sunday. It started off extremely stressful and by 11pm it was the most exciting night of being a Longhorn...I think. Monday Hannah and I went to our favorite place on the Earth, Pedernales Falls to spend a few hours.  I'm just still so happy from the Notre Dame I can't even think straight. Have a great week y'all-xoxo darling, Hayden.

Some of the Ladybirds went bowling on Friday night.

And followed it up with milkshakes at Fat Sal's.

On Saturday I watched tons of college football,
caught up on my laundry, and made pancakes.

Some late night baking on Saturday.

Sunday morning brunch with my g-little at Texas French Bread.

Alyssa was my Camp Texas Counselor, now we're recruiters together!

Amanda & I were back {and more stressed than ever}!

There was nothing quite like being in DKR on Sunday night.

If you follow my snapstory {@hayden213}, you saw how exciting Sunday night was for me.

Hannah & I got to try Snooze this morning. It is really good,
especially if you love pancakes, but a little pricey!

Labor Day we ventured out to our favorite place in the Hill Country, Pedernales Falls State Park.

Swim Bra

Y'all.
I think I was living under a rock. Because I just learned of this magical creation: the Swim Bra. I have always had to be super careful of what bathing suits I chose because of the cup size. But now, there is a solution {or maybe there has always been and I'm just slow}. But I am here to let y'all know (if you didn't already) how FANTASTIC the swim bra is. You can buy whatever bathing suit you want & then just wear the bra with it. Truly a beautiful combination.
I came across the swim bra because I have always wanted a plain navy one-piece. But Lands End {my favorite swim suit maker} doesn't make the right cup size for me. But while searching on the internet I discovered said swim bra and GAME CHANGER! Now I own a swim bra and I could not be happier about it.
I wore it to the beach the other day, and it was A+. If you have any questions about the bra & its amazing capacities let me know-xoxo darling, Hayden.
P.S. I have included three swim bras in the box below!
