When Sarah was growing up, Andrew Jackson called her "wealthy, pretty, ambitious, and intelligent." She assisted her husband with his speeches, gave him advice on policy and was active in his campaigns. Sarah hosted the first Thanksgiving dinner at the White House. I personally love her curly hair:
