Week Re-Cap

The cutest sparkley card from Target.

A first day of school photo with Devi & Babs!

Black's Chicken & Waffles -- A+++

Hannah & I were craving Mighty Cone on Friday.

UMALF Scalupture Gardens is very pretty!

After a hot shopping day on SoCo we grabbed
lemonade from Austin City Lemons.

And we finally visited Science Ice Cream.

Saturday we floated the Guadalupe River.

We then visited Gruene (pronounced Green).

And saw the famous Gruene Hall.

After all of that we had lunch at Buttermilk Cafe in New Braunfels.

We then called Blue Hole and they were relatively empty so we drove over to Wimberley and (literally) jumped in.

And we had some of the best froyo I've ever had at the
Wooden Spoon in Wimberley.

Week Re-Cap

Happy Wednesday y'all! It has been a. long. week. Not that it hasn't been good, it totally has! It was just extremely tiring. First, I flew back to Austin (back to the burning heat). My parents had a few days of cleaning/buying supplies. We ate a lot of food (which is very evident in this post) & were able to have dinner with the bestie's parents as well. I went to a soccer game at Texas A&M (ugh) & FSU won! Now that I am back on my own my days have been, and I am not kidding, meetings from 8/9am-5pm. It has been crazy. Yesterday one of my meetings finished early so Hannah and I were able to try Nau's Enfield Drug (10/10 would recomend the malts) and we were able to get outside at Mayfield Park. Last night I ate some leftover Indian food and had an early night in because I need my sleep!
Today is the first day of classes (and more meetings) but I am very excited to see where junior year takes me. How are y'all? -xoxo darling, Hayden.

The usual pre-leaving tea with the fam @ Wisteria Tea Room.

I flew back to Austin on Thursday.

Pretty quickly the fam stopped at Black's for some BBQ.

And of course we had to get Dairy Queen sundaes because of National Soft Serve Day.

On our way to College Station we spotted this amazing rainbow.

We tried Layne's in College Station and thought it was
pretty good {aside from all the Aggie stuff...}

Saturday morning working breakfast at La Madeleine.

 A lunch at Cane Rosso.

An ice cream "stacker" from Cow Tipping Creamery.

 Sunday brunch at Chez Zee.

Lunch at Texas French Bread.

Hannah & I had no idea there was an old fashioned soda fountain in Austin...but we found it!

I had a grilled cheese & a chocolate malt. The chocolate malt was amazing.

After eating a kind of big meal we ventured to Mayfield park for an hour to hike around.

Goals for the Semester

Every semester I try to think about what I can do to make my start to school even better. It has actually helped me get out of my comfort zone a number of times & try new things. This semester my goals are pretty simple, but I think they will be even more difficult to achieve than normal because they are so broad. But I want to work on them, so we will see how it goes. Below I have listed seven of my big things that I want to do, follow along on HT this semester to see how they turn out-xoxo darling, Hayden.
  • Have more picnics
  • Buy more flowers
  • Get outside more
  • Do more of my 101 in 1001
  • Be kinder
  • Go for more walks
  • Explore more

Fourth Birthday

After four years, and countless blog posts HT is four years old! How crazy is that?! We've been doing this for four. whole. years. I'm astounded that I have been able to come up with something to post about {almost} every day for the past four years let alone how much HT has grown. I am so incredibly proud to call Haute Table my little corner of the internet and thank goodness y'all have joined me along the way...I might have just been that crazy girl who blogged by herself this whole time but y'all have made creating this platform worth it. As usual I have updated my about page {with all of my favorite photos} & I have another post about the most popular posts of the year coming up later. And then there is a kind of big anouncement.
.........................
I am going to be working with a blog designer to completely redo Haute Table. There will be drop down menus and a whole lot of complicated system of coding that I could never do by myself. But basically it will just be a way better user interface for you, the user! I am absolutely thrilled that I am finally checking this off my want list {and my 101 in 1001}. I'm not sure when the new site will launch but y'all will be the first to know!
........................
Lastly, I totally flew to paris just to take these photos...just kidding. Hannah and I did a whole photoshoot this summer for this very day & I am honestly in love with the photos. Not only do I love my Liberty dress, but the scenery in Paris was absolutely gorgeous. I hadn't been in the summer in quite a long time and I had forgotten how beautiful the city is when it's green.
.......................
Thank you so much again for your continued support, hook 'em & xoxo darling, Hayden.

Four Years {Part Two}

Phew, another year, another chapter of HT's life.
This year was phenomenal, we got even more page views than all the other years and I couldn't be more proud. Y'all seriously loved Marfa, both posts about the fabulous art mecca in the middle of West Texas. Both my re-caps about my year and my school year were hugely popular & I hope you guys got some ideas from my big/little gifts.
As for what I loved this year: I am so happy with the way my apartment turned out. It was such hard work & I seriously love it. Being able to study abroad in London will most likely be one of the greatest experiences of my life and in that, being able to attend Royal Ascot was even better. Ooooo, and I turned 20! My friends showed me so much love and for that I am thankful. Lastly, possibly one of my favorite posts of the past year was "It's Over." because I was able to open up to y'all about my struggles during the fall semester. It was rough going and I am so happy that some of you could realte to the issue.
Overall, HT has had an amazing year & none of that would have been possible with out you, the reader. Thank you so much for your continued support & here's to another year of being fabulous darling! -xoxo, Hayden

Monogram Beach Bag DIY

After seeing many of these bags on Instagram and then seeing their price tag, I decided to make my own. It is one of the easiest DIYs I have ever done and it cost the sum total of $25. Follow my steps below for a super cute summer beach tote-xoxo darling, Hayden.

This Target tote bag was perfect & I got it on sale!

First I printed out & then made a stencil of my monogram using Word.

Then I used spray-mounting glue to adhere the stencil to the bag.

To create the stripes I used masking tape and the filling from
the bag to make sure no spray paint accidents happened.

I did the monogram & outside stripes first in pink.

Then after a day of letting the pink paint dry I taped & covered
the bag to create the white stripe.

Then I let the white stripe dry for the day before peeling the paper/tape off.

And volia! A {very} economical version of the cutest
beach bag of the summer!

Quotes of the Week

It is my last Monday in Florida before the start of the semester so I am visiting the last of my friends and starting to think about packing...just kidding-xoxo darling, Hayden.

Oxford

So the story of my trip out to Oxford is kind of an interesting one {maybe to just me...}. I was supposed to go with a group of friends but they ended up buying tickets to a music festival that day instead {queue sad face}.
But then I saw my friend & chair pair, Alyssa's snapstory. I had forgotten that she was going to be in Oxford for a program with our university & that it would overlap with the time I was there. It turned out she got there that day & I was asking if I could come visit the next day...she said yes!
So Sunday morning I got up and went to the train station only to see that most of the trains had been delayed. But I didn't let it stop me & I eventually got a seat on one {visitors tip, make sure to pay attention to the boards and hurry as soon as it's called because there will be no seats & you'll have to stand for an hour if you aren't careful}.
After my fairly short train ride {make sure to get a window seat, the countryside is gorgeous}. I got off and walked to the university, it's pretty hard to miss it...trust me.
I had saved a map of the school and what I wanted to do on my phone so I followed that pretty closely. I went on a tour of the Bodleian Library, went up in the University Church of St. Mary the Virgin tower, saw Radcliff Camera, and visited Christ Church College.
Once I had completed my tourist-centric portion of the trip I met up with Alyssa and we went on a pub crawl of some of the most famous pubs in England, The Eagle and Child, The Bear Inn, Turf Tavern, and Old Bookbinders.
After four seperate pubs {and a beer at each} Alyssa wished me farewell and I hopped on one of the last trains back to London.
Oxford was one of my favorite day trips I took while studying & I would highly suggest it to anyone else. The history itself is enough to warrant a visit but if you like Harry Potter, Inspector Morse, Endeavor, or Inspector Lewis it is even more of the place for you! Have any of y'all ever been? -xoxo darling, Hayden

Working on a little DIY project {see results soon}!

It was finally time {after about 3 years} to
change my phone background.

A mid-week lunch with my parents.

Last Day in London

My last day in London was extremely eventful. I was staying with a friend in southern London {right by Borough Market} & I hadn't been to the market yet so we started our morning eating fabulous things & then we ventured to the newer "hipster" makrets of Bemundsoey & Druid Street...with stops for more coffee and shopping in-between. After we caught up on some Gilmore Girls & then went out that night to the Ham Yard Hotel & Polpo -- both were perfect. Check out my photo diary below & let me know if y'all have done any of this-xoxo darling, Hayden.

We opted for the Breakfast Burger & let me tell you, it was the best decision.

Just look at that perfection.

I loved Columbian Coffee Roasters -- they are very highly regarded!

Some gorgeous meraigunes.

I was in love with my almond croassaint.

We stopped in at Fuckoffee for a Fat Wife {flat white}.

Some things were cooking at Bermondsey Market.

Lunch at The Roebuck.

This painting and I feel the same way...

The bar area at the Ham Yard Hotel.

We had some delicious martinis.

The libarary at Ham Yard.

Polpo was one of the best meals I had in London.

...another martini...

Arancini -- This was a new experience and it was delicious!

Chickpea, spinach & ricotta meatballs & fried gnocchi, rainbow chard
pesto & young pecorino were both phenomenal.

The bresaola, goat curd & rocket pesto brushcetta, despite my dislike
of goat cheese, was delicious.

Ricotta doughnuts with cinammon sugar were everything I could have
wanted to end my last meal in London.

{via}

Virgin Atlantic provided us with free magazines while we waited...they
were the first magazines I had read in two months
so I had a lot of catching up to do.

Kew Gardens

I am a complete sucker for gardens. Like my favorite things typically revolve around parks and flowers {queue me telling people my favorite thing about London is Greenwich Park or Regents Park}.
I found Kew online {shoutout to you Julia of Gal Meets Glam} & knew I had to visit. Not only did it look gorgeous, it had a rich history. I spent the entire afternoon/early evening there and walked basically the whole garden. My step count was super high that day!
I would 10/10 recomend bringing a picnic and getting there early if you go on a weekend. It is a little out of the way {it took me three seperate tube lines to get there} but it. is. worth. it. -xoxo darling, Hayden
P.S. Prepare for a photo overload...

The Hive instillation is only there for a little bit longer!

Week Re-Cap

After a crazy last week in London I am finally home! And it feels so good! All of the photos below are from London because I have basically been being really lazy since I got back {hello jet lag}. I hope y'all enjoy! And just know, I have sooo many more London posts coming up {as well as my complete guide to the city}! -xoxo darling, Hayden

Sierra and I walked around Brixton one afternoon.

And tried jerk chicken {both of us had never had it}!

We visited Maxwell's in Covent Garden for yet another Freakshake...

And I hiked up Primrose Hill to finish my book {Eligible was amazing y'all} & catch the sunset.

We had one last breakfast at Look Mum No Hands!

And the project I have been working on at my internship came to fruition!!!

I took Sierra out to Greenwich & we stood
on the Prime Meridian line.

And laid in the park for a while.

One of my friends from UT took the bus down from
Oxford so I showed her South Bank.

Then it was Sierra's last day so we went out for Thai food in Angel.

And finished off the night with Pimm's on The Castle roof.

It was also my last night in the house {via}.

I couldn't resist taking this photo on my second to last day.

I finally got to Buckingham Palace
{honestly, not to be missed}.

And my friend Carla & I had champagne at The Shard.

Followed up by some delicious curry!

Quotes of the Week

I am most likely still sleeping when this post is posting. After yesterday's flight ordeal I was exhausted & jetlagged like crazy. I am off to get a bagel this morning though because I only have 18 days to eat as many as possible. Also, I cannot beleive it is already AUGUST. Where does the time go? -xoxo darling, Hayden
